How this is calculated
The calculator counts the whole months from your date of birth, then the days left over:
- Exact age = whole years + whole months + remaining days
- Total days = the date − date of birth
- You are within a limit when minimum age ≤ your age ≤ maximum age + relaxation, on the date in the advert, to the day.
A month is added by keeping the same day of the month. If that day does not exist, the last day of the month is used: one month after 31 January is 28 February (29 in a leap year).

In Pakistan, commissions such as FPSC and PPSC check age on a set date, usually the closing date of the advert (for the CSS exam, a fixed cut-off date). PPSC says a candidate who is under or over age by even one day is not eligible. Relaxation, for example 5 years of general relaxation, is set in each advert.
Worked example
A person born on March 10, 1996 is 30 years, 7 months, 22 days old on November 1, 2026, or 11,193 days. For a job with an age limit of 21 to 30 years, the last day within the limit is March 10, 2026. With 5 years of relaxation it moves to March 10, 2031.

How do I calculate my exact age?
Count the whole years since your date of birth, then the whole months since your last birthday, then the days left. This calculator does it for any date and also shows your age in total months, weeks and days.
How is age calculated for government jobs in Pakistan?
On the date the advert gives, usually the closing date for applications (for the CSS exam, a fixed cut-off date). Enter that date in “Age on this date”, then the limits and any relaxation from the advert. PPSC says that being under or over the limit by even one day makes a candidate ineligible.
What does age relaxation mean?
Some adverts allow extra years above the upper age limit, for example 5 years of general relaxation. With an upper limit of 30 years and 5 years of relaxation, you qualify until your 35th birthday. The rules differ by job and category, so use the relaxation stated in your advert.
I was born on 29 February. When is my birthday?
In leap years, on 29 February. In other years this calculator counts it on 28 February, so you become a year older on that day.
